JUNIOR PROGRAM
Working at Community Boating Inc. (CBI) is one of the most unique and fun opportunities in Junior Sailing – it’s not a camp, and certainly not your typical yacht club. CBI serves over 1,500 children each summer from throughout the Greater Boston Area, especially children that might not otherwise have the opportunity to sail.
The 2012 season will run Mondays – Fridays from June 11 – August 24. This includes 10 weeks of programming plus a pre-season week of training. Please read on for a list of job descriptions and requirements. Competitive pay.

Instructor
Instructors will mainly teach beginner and intermediate level classes in Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). The ideal candidates are flexible, able to multi-task, have excellent time management skills, and enjoy a fast-paced environment. All instructors split time between teaching classes and supervising the dock and free sail program.
US SAILING Level 1 certification required (we offer this certification the week before training starts for any staff that need it), launch tender’s license a plus.
Windsurfing Instructor
The windsurfing instructor will be responsible for teaching introductory and advanced windsurfing classes on our fleet of Bic Techno 293 boards. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about windsurfing, has excellent time-management skills, and enjoys a fast-paced environment. All instructors split time between teaching classes and supervising the dock and free sail program.
US Sailing Windsurfing Instructor certification or willingness to obtain required, launch tender’s license a plus.
Instructor In Training Coordinator
The Instructor-In-Training (IIT) Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and planning weekly training meetings for the IITs. IITs are the more experienced Junior members who volunteer to assist with classes, help out on the dock, and take newer members out sailing. This position also includes teaching intermediate and advanced classes in our fleet of Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). The ideal candidate for this position is organized, energetic, able to multi-task, and has excellent time management skills. All instructors split time between teaching classes and supervising the dock and free sail program.

Environmental Program Coordinator/Instructor
The Environmental Program Coordinator/Instructor will be responsible for leading daily environmental activities for junior members with the help of staff from Save the Harbor/Save the Bay (examples include: fishing, water quality testing, eel trapping, etc). This position also includes teaching beginner and intermediate sailing classes in Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). The ideal candidate has some background in and is enthusiastic about environmental education. Additionally, he or she should be flexible, have excellent time-management skills, and enjoy a fast-paced environment. All instructors split time between teaching classes and supervising the dock and free sail program.

UNIVERSAL ACCESS PROGRAM
The Community Boating Universal Access Program (UAP) strives to minimize barriers to sailing by offering sailing to those who require special assistance, their family, friends or staff for just $1.00/ person. The program runs on a dedicated, appointment basis where the participant will be paired up with a trained instructor, using specialized equipment to teach sailing or simply to offer a therapeutic or recreational experience. All are welcome to sail with CBI, so abilities range in both physical as well as developmental disabilities as well as all age ranges from child to senior citizen. Most common participants are blind/ vision impairment, deaf/ hard-of-hearing, autism, ADD/ADHD, Downs Syndrome, CP, mobility issues.
The 2012 season will run from Monday, April 30 - Sunday, September 30.

Instructors
Instructors will teach beginner and intermediate level one-on-one to small group classes largely in the boat with a variety of abilities in Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot keel boats) or Sonars. The ideal candidates are flexible, able to work well independently and have excellent time management skills.
First Aid/ CPR and US Sailing Level 1 certification required (we provide a course for anyone who needs to get certified!!). Coast Guard Launch Tender’s license and/or Lifeguard certification a plus.
ADULT PROGRAM
Community Boating’s Adult Program serves over 4,000 adults each year. CBI’s unique location allows sailors to get out on the water faster, and the open nature of the program allows adults the flexibility to sail when it’s convenient for them. The Adult Program staff is responsible for overseeing the daily dock activities to ensure that members are learning in a safe environment, and are satisfied with their member experience.

Adult Program Dock Staff
Community Boating Inc. is hiring Dock Staff for the 2012 season. Dock Staff are responsible for a multitude of tasks including but not limited to: teaching beginner sailing classes, general fleet and facilities care, maintaining a safe on the water atmosphere, and serving our Adult Program membership. The ideal candidate should be hard working, self motivated, have the ability to complete tasks as assigned, and have excellent customer service skills.
Positions are available for full season (April 1st through October 31st), and summer season (Late May/Early June through late August). US Sailing level one preferred but not required.
Adult Program Windsurf Instructor
Community Boating Inc. is looking for windsurfing instructors for the 2012 summer season. Windsurf instructors are responsible for working with volunteers to maintain equipment, teach intro through advanced classes, and helping out with other aspects of our high performance programs. The ideal candidates for this position are self motivated, team players, hard working, and responsible.
The 2012 season for our windsurf program runs from late May through the end of August. US Sailing Windsurf certification, or ability to complete before season required, USCG Launch Tenders license preferred.
Adult Program Sailing Instructor
Community Boating Inc. is looking for instructors for our Adult Program. Instructors will teach a broad range of classes from Introductory sailing in our fleet of Cape Cod Mercurys to more advanced classes such as 420 and Laser. The ideal candidates are flexible, able to multi-task, excellent teachers, have excellent time management skills, and enjoy a fast-paced fun environment. All instructors split time between teaching classes and working the dock.
The 2012 season will run from April 1st to October 31st. US Sailing Level 1 certification required.
Adult Program Launch Tender
The Adult Program is looking for experienced launch tenders for the upcoming spring, summer, and fall seasons. Responsibilities include: Ferrying sailors to keel boats on moorings, on the water rescues, and general dock work. The ideal candidate for this job must have excellent interpersonal skills, strong powerboat skills, great time management, and the ability to handle crisis situations.
The 2012 season will run from April 1st through October 31st. Positions are available for full season employment as well as late May through late August. USCG Launch Tenders license required.
Adult Program Harbor Trip launch Captain
Community Boating is seeking a USCG licensed launch captain to run our Adult Program Harbor Trips for the upcoming 2012 season. Harbor Trips are day trips that tow six Rhodes 19s into the harbor and give members the experience to sail to a nearby island to have lunch and explore. The ideal candidate will be effecient, responsible, reliable, have strong navigation and towing experience.
Harbor Trips run from early May through October. They are on alternating Saturday's and Sundays. USCG Six Pack with Towing endorsement or higher required. Competitive pay. Email for more information.
Adult Program Dock Master
Community Boating Inc. is looking for a Dock Master for the 2012 season. Dock Masters are responsible for supervising all aspects of the Adult Program when the Director or Assistant Director is absent. The ideal candidate will have proven management experience, excellent interpersonal skills, strong sailing and powerboat knowledge, and have the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks as assigned.
2012 positions are available for late May through late August. US Sailing Level 1 or higher required, as well as USCG Launch Tenders license.
Adult Program Assistant Director
The Adult Program is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Assistant Director. The position is full time from March 30th through October 31st. The Assistant Director is responsible for the following but not limited to; training of the staff, overseeing dock operations when the Director is absent, performing evaluations of staff, work schedules, and curriculum management.

Front Office Staff
Community Boating is looking for Front Office Staff for the 2012 season. Front Office Staff members are responsible for member communication via phone, email, and in person. The Front Office Staff sells and tracks memberships and other retail items, and is responsible for coordinating sign-ups for all classes and other events. The Front Office Staff is also responsible for data entry and other tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate is personable, customer-service oriented, organized, able to multi-task, and can work well both independently and as part of a team.
2012 positions are available for portions or the entirety of the season (April 1 – October 31). Previous customer service experience and knowledge of boating and sailboats preferred.
