2010 Dock Campaign

Governor Patrick visited CBI on April 15 and pledged the state to replacing the deteriorated docks at CBI.  This comes after 7 years of collaborative effort between the DCR, CBI, The Solomon Fund, The Esplanade Association, and The Union Boat Club.  CBI Executive Director, Charlie Zechel, reflects that “this good news comes not a moment too soon. The condition of the docks has steadily deteriorated and has now become critical.”  Governor Patrick pledged $3.5 million in state funding provided that CBI and our partner organization, The Esplanade Association, raise $500,000 from private sources.    Following the state’s leadership, David Mugar and The Solomon Fund have pledged $100,000 each as a challenge to CBI and the Esplanade Association to raise the balance of $300,000.  As part of our collaboration with The Esplanade Association, CBI is please to launch a targeted campaign to our membership to raise $100,000.  Executive Director Zechel says, “This is an important piece of the effort.  We are counting on CBI’s thousands of members, past and present to step up and help us achieve this goal. The new and improved docks will secure “Sailing for All” for future generations and allow improved programming for inner city youth and sailors with disabilities.  Successfully raising $100,000 for the docks is of paramount importance to the future of CBI.”  And now we’re off and running!
