New Stuff 2008!!!
If you haven't been to CBI yet this spring, now is the time to see all the new stuff! All winter long, CBI as well as nearly 100 volunteers drastically improved the entire Mercury fleet! Every Mercury has a new mainsheet (cut to 10' over "proper length"), four new blocks along the boom and transom for ease of sheeting, a new boomvang (that actually holds), the centerboard wire has been replaced with line (so no more metal splinters!) and much, much more. And there are over 80 new Mercury mainsails in the fleet. The Rhodes 19 fleet got a lot of attention this winter to rebuild the pounders and floor boards. And we have six new sets of sails-sets: main, jib, and spinnaker (NEW!). This year, the old 420's also received new sets of sails to match the new 420's from last year.

So, come on down and check it out, and take a out a boat to take advantage of all these improvements. And on your way, check out the new CBI merchandise available for sale in the front office such as the new hoody-sweatshirts and new hats (that actually fit!).
CBI WANTS YOU !
Does CBI ever stop asking for volunteers?  NO!  And I'm pleased to report that we won't ever stop, ever. Through volunteers CBI thrives and prospers as one of the most dynamic and fun organizations anywhere. I hope you will look at your busy schedule and limited available time and help us out with your talent, energy and enthusiasm.  So what do we need help with now?  The list is long, but we have a pressing need today. We are looking for CBI sailors with finance, accounting, legal, or business management backgrounds to participate/serve on our Budget and Finance Committee.  The committee meets monthly at the boathouse. To learn more please contact Executive Director Charlie Zechel at charlie@community-boating.org.

A real testimonial:

I have seen many CBI members join the Budget and Finance Committee over the past ten years. I believe that it has changed their lives in profound and wonderful ways.  Michael got married and now is a proud father.  Holger got engaged. Chris got a new job as did Tracy. Another Chris is the proud parent of twins as is Liz. These are only a few examples of many of joining this group can improve your life!

Nautical Definitions
Groggy: The British Admiral Vernon always wore a coat made of grogram (or grosgrain), a rough blend of wool and silk, and this earned him the nickname "Old Grogram." He gave orders that the daily rum ration should be diluted with water; the sailors called the mixture "grog," and anyone who drank too much of it became "groggy."
