Open to any Junior member. You will learn the basics on the Cape Cod Mercury, a 15 foot sloop. This class covers all the bases from rigging and safety rules to sailing your own boat. New this year, you will also learn the basics of kayaking during your Solo-Kayak class! Each week, up to 7 Solo-Kayak classes start on Monday and run through Friday. At the end of the Solo-Kayak class you will be able to sail on your own in one of our Mercuries or paddle around the river in a Kayak on a Green Flag (light wind) day. Class size is limited to 24 students

The GO! (Girls Only) class is open to any female Junior member. The class is smaller than the regular Solo-Kayak Class and allows for more one-on-one time with the instructor. You will learn the basics on the Cape Cod Mercury, a 15 foot sloop. This class covers all the bases from rigging and safety rules to sailing your own boat, all in an empowering, girls-only environment! New this year, you will also learn the basics of kayaking during your GO! Solo-Kayak class. Each week, the GO! Solo-Kayak class starts on Monday and runs through Friday. At the end of the GO! Solo-Kayak class, you will be able to sail on your own in one of our Mercuries or paddle around the river in a Kayak on a Green Flag (light wind) day. Class size is limited to 12 students.

The YO! (Young Only) Solo-Kayak is open to any junior member between the ages of 10-12, and is a brand new class for summer 2006! Due to the popularity of the GO! Solo class, this summer we have decided to offer another smaller, more intense solo class. The class is smaller than the regular Solo-Kayak Class and allows for more one-on-one time with the instructor. You will learn the basics on the Cape Cod Mercury, a 15 foot sloop. This class covers all the bases from rigging and safety rules to sailing your own boat. You will also learn the basics of kayaking during your YO! Class. Each week, the YO! class starts on Monday and runs through Friday. At the end of the YO! Class, you will be able to sail on your own in one of our Mercuries or paddle around the river in a Kayak on a Green Flag (light wind) day. Class size is limited to 12 students.

Open to Juniors who have had their Solo rating before. Solo review is for Juniors who have had their rating in past summers, but did not advance to Helmsman. The class will review the Solo class material with an instructor. At the end of the class, students will either get their Solo rating or sign up for the full length class. Class size is limited to 15 students.

Open to all students. Kayaking is a fun way to explore the river without a sail. In the Kayak Class, you will learn how to put a kayak in the water and take it out for a spin. You will also learn how to get back in if you fall out, so bring a change of clothes and be prepared to get wet! Class size is limited to 12 students.
1 day, 1 1/2 hours
Open to students with a Solo rating. Helmsman Clinic is the next step in developing your sailing skills. The class is taught almost completely on the water and focuses on polishing the skills you've learned in Solo. The Helmsman Clinic allows students to brush up on the skills under instructor supervision in preparation for earning their Helmsman rating, which is an on-the-water test. After you get your Helmsman rating, you can take classes for any of our other sailboats, or a windsurfing class! Class size is limited to 15 students.

Open to students with a Helmsman rating. The Laser is one of the fastest and most fun boats we have! It is one of the most popular sailboats in the world and is raced in the Olympics. It is a great boat whether you are a beginner or an expert. This class will cover rigging the boat and going sailing on Green Flag days. Students will have to get wet, so make sure you bring a change of clothes! After you successfully complete the Laser class, you will have your Laser Basic rating which allows you to go out on Green Flag days. Class size is limited to 6 students.

Open to students with their Helmsman rating. This class begins with a land-simulator session, to introduce proper form and sail-handling. Then, the class goes out on the water to apply their new techniques. Class size is limited to 4 students.
3 days, 2 hours/day
Open to students with their Helmsman rating. This class adds another sail to the Mercury, the jib. Students will learn how to rig and sail with both a jib and a mainsail. You will apply and expand the basic skills you learned in Solo Class and the Helmsman Clinic. When you add a jib to the mix, sailing gets more fun, and those Mercs get moving! Class size is limited to 12 students.
2 days, 2 hours/day
Open to students with their Jib rating. The R-19 is a great first keelboat. Its stable, but small enough tobe easy to learn on. Its good to take on a day-sail, but the R-19 is also one of the most active racing fleets in the Boston area. Our Harbor Trips use the R-19 to sail out to the islands! This is a great rating for any First Mate that wants to help instructors and take out Solo Classes! Class size is limited to 4 students.
2 days, 2 hours/day
Open to students with their R-19 rating. The Sonar is the Ferrari of the fleet. Its big, fast and fun. But its also very easy to sail. Our Adaptive Sailing Program takes advantage of these boats because theyre easy to change to meet a lot of different needs. The class will require some experience with the Rhodes 19, so take a few sails and practice! Class size is limited to 5 students.
2 days, 2 1/2 hours/day
Open to students with their Jib rating. The 420 is the Junior racing boat in the Northeast. Its fast, fun and easy to learn. And its not just for racing. If you like going fast with a friend, youll like sailing the 420. This class will cover how to rig and sail the 420 with a crew. Students will get wet here too, so bring a change of clothes. After successfully completing the 420 Class, you will have your 420 Basic Rating. Class size is limited to 8 students.

Open to students with their windsurfing rating. This clinic builds on what was learned in the beginner windsurfing class. Racing and freestyle are introduced. Class size is limited to 5 students.

Open to students with their Jib rating. This class covers the basics of racing sailboats, including, starts, courses, rules and strategy. Look for members of the CBI Junior Program Race Team to be helping out with this class. Class size is limited to 12 students.

Open to students with their Laser Rating. This class teaches students the basics of racing Lasers, including starting techniques and overall race strategy! Class size is limited to 6 students.
