Final Spring Open Houses – Saturday, May 16th & Sunday, May 17th
Spring is finally here! It’s time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and what better way is there to enjoy Boston than on the water–sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or windsurfing? And all for an affordable price, even cheaper than your typical gym or yoga studio.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sail, here’s your chance. Community Boating Inc. Boston, MA will be hosting their final Spring Open Houses for prospective and new members on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th from 10am until 2pm.
FREE Orientations will be offered on the hour, every hour, from 10am to 2pm. Purchase an Adult Program Full Year Membership and receive FREE guest privileges, plus we’ll take you out for an introductory skippered sailboat ride on the Charles! Offer valid only in person. Your Full Year membership grants you access to all the classes that we offer, special discounts to CBI events, and usage of all the boats and equipment.
Snacks and coffee will be provided in the morning. A cookout will be provided on the dock in the afternoon, with beverages donated by Polar Seltzer and hot dogs by Kayem. All are welcome to join us!
You can find out more information and RSVP at our Facebook Event page.
Adult Program News and Updates
Adult Program members, please be aware that on Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th, there will be no 420 or centerboard Mercury sign-outs available from 1PM until 6PM due to the Mass Bay League Championships, a high school regatta.
Over the past four years, CBI’s Learn-to-Race class has introduced CBI sailors to the world of sailboat racing. In 2015, CBI is introducing a few tweaks to our Friday Night Informal Racing to better integrate the newly minted racers.
Upon completion of the racing course, graduates will receive the usual applause and accolades and their very own green streamer. They will be able to secure the streamer at the head of the mainsail to identify them as novice racers–CBI’s very own green fleet. This will help us provide targeted coaching and encouragement on the race course to advance their skills.
In addition, each Tuesday night, we will be offering a new race practice session for our members who are interested in learning new racing skills, improving boat handling, or just dusting off the cobwebs. Space is limited so sign up in advance through the Front Office.
For more information about racing at CBI, which occurs almost every day of the week, please visit our Racing webpage at community-boating.org/racing.
