Seeking Volunteer Instructors
For those of you interested in using your love of sailing to help new skippers, get involved with the volunteer instruction program! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to attend a 1-2 hour training session, and you can begin teaching as often or as little as you like!
With guest privileges, you could take a friend out kayaking or guests with you on sailboats for which you have ratings. While it is just a one-time fee for the guest privileges, you will need to sign each guest up the first time they visit the boathouse. Skip the paperwork and have your guests sign up online. Save time and the environment by doing this in advance so you can just pick up a guest card at the Front Office. Register your guests at http://www.community-boating.org/guest.
Social Volunteer Information Sessions
Seeking Volunteer teachers for CBI-RoboSail robotic model boat challenge, a new STEM offering in the Junior program.
We are looking for adults with experience in computers/robotics who want to learn this system, share their skills with kids and have some fun with robotic boats. You will need to attend 2 volunteer training sessions (hardware/software/boat construction/curriculum) in late Aug/early Sept.
The course meets at Community Boating on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4, and attendance is expected at all 6 sessions. Students will have knowledge of sailing maneuvers and laptop computers, but no coding experience is required.
The course is developed and led by Diane Brancazio, a CBI member and high school engineering teacher. Diane will be at the CBI dock on this Sunday, August 24th, at 12 Noon with an example model sailboat, feel free to stop by to inquire about the program and learn about applying to volunteer, or contact her at email@example.com. Information about RoboSail can be found at www.robosail.org.
