Memberships & Boating Passes
A Community Boating membership or pass is the easiest way to sail or paddle in Greater Boston for a fraction of the fees others charge. Our memberships and boating passes include everything you need to get on the water every day.
Membership options are listed below. To join our community and get onto the water, purchase a membership online, or stop by the boathouse to see our program in action. You can also get a gift certificate for a friend or family member!
Prices & Options

This all-access annual membership includes unlimited boat sign-outs during program hours, free beginner and intermediate classes, and discounted event tickets. Advanced classes and guest sign-outs require an additional purchase — see “Add-Ons” below.
Already have a CBI membership? If you renew or upgrade to a full-year membership, you’ll earn a $25 discount plus free guest privileges ($35 value). See “Discounts” below for details.
Membership is valid for 365 calendar days from date of purchase. Our Adult Program runs from April 1 to October 31. All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
This all-access membership includes 30 days of unlimited boat signouts and free beginner and intermediate classes. Advanced classes and guest signouts require an additional purchase — see “Add-Ons” below.
$275 for your first month then auto renew each month for $175.
Membership is valid for 30 consecutive calendar days from date of purchase. All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
This membership is ideal for novice sailors. It includes Community Boating’s introductory sailing classes and 30 days of unlimited boat access. Even if you have no prior experience, we’ll teach you basic sailing theory and let you try out the sport on your own.
Trial members cannot progress beyond a Mercury Green rating. Not eligible for Guided Sail, Intermediate or Advanced Classes, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddling, or Guest Privileges.

This membership can renew at $175/month for an all access monthly membership or start an Annual membership with the renewal discount.
Includes access to our sit-on-top kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, plus occasional paddling classes. Guest privileges are available for purchase, and cover one guest at a time on a double kayak.
Sailing classes are not included and cannot be added to a paddling pass. If you are interested in sailing, please view our other membership and pass options.

Discounts
Expiring memberships may renew to a full-year membership at a discount; free guest privileges are included. Annual renewals must be purchased within 14 days of expiration to qualify for the discount.
We also offer several other discounted full-year memberships. You may purchase these discounts online, but must present a valid ID to the Front Office to confirm your discount eligibility prior to using your membership.

Optional Add-Ons
Memberships are all-access, however we do charge nominal fees for some advanced items. Add-ons are nonrefundable.
Optional guest privileges allow you to bring nonmembers on your sailboat or kayak for the length of your current membership. Members must have at least a Mercury Yellow rating to sail with guests, and maximum occupancy rules vary by vessel. Guest privileges may be purchased at any time during the duration of a membership, and are automatically included for Full-Year Renewals.
Any member who signs out a boat shall be held financially responsible for equipment damage. Members may purchase a damage waiver that covers the cost of accidental damage. Does not cover gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional acts.
Seasonal lockers can be rented for $100, and are located inside on the first floor. Please ask at the front desk if you are interested. CBI is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Advanced classes are required before using CBI’s high-performance fleet: Lasers, 420s, Sonars, and Ideal 18s. Members must earn a Mercury Red rating before registering for advanced classes.
Adult Program members can rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard for a guest, at 50% off the usual rental price. To learn more about one-day rentals, visit our rental page.
One-day rentals for members and their guests are available on a first-come first-serve basis during program hours. Members must have guest privileges to qualify for this discount, and they can only purchase one discounted rental per day. All rentals are for two hours.
