Schedule an Appointment
After your Orientation Sail, members can choose from three 90-minute appointment options: Guided Recreational sail, Sailing Lesson, or Open Sailing (permissions required). Please use the drop down menus below to sign up through the software Acuity for your appointment time.
No available time you’re looking for? Sign up for a waitlist, and if an appointment becomes available, our Front Office will contact you to see if you are interested in the time slot. There is no limit to how many times you may sign up for the waitlist.
Because of high demand, you’re limited to a maximum of two (2) appointments per week and one (1) appointment per day. Appointments are available one month in advance. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins.
If you would like to request additional information or if you have trouble scheduling an appointment, please email [email protected], or call 617-523-1038.
Information for Groups
UAP has numerous valuable partnerships with various hospitals, schools, day programs, and care facilities. We offer groups the opportunity to sign up for UAP together and attend our sailing classes and recreational boat rides. Our programming can be customized to fit your group. Groups must schedule appointments through the UAP Associate Program Director at [email protected].

Policies and Procedures
We understand that members may not always be able to keep an appointment that they schedule. If an individual or group cannot make it to an appointment, you must cancel at least 2 hours before the start of the appointment, or it will be considered a no-show. The exception to this is if you have a 11:00am appointment, in which case you must cancel at least 1 hour before the start of your appointment.
Cancellations are quick and easy, and can be done in one of three ways:
- Using the link in the confirmation email you receive after booking an appointment
- Calling the Front Office at 617-523-1038 ext. 10
- Emailing frontoffice@
community-boating.org
No-shows impact the operation of the Universal Access Program because members may be on the waitlist and boats are set up in advanced. We understand that medical and personal emergencies do come up making cancelling in advance tricky or impossible. If an emergency does come up please contact CBI to provide a valid reason for the absence.
If an individual or group does not show up within 20 minutes of the start of the appointment or cancels after the appointment was scheduled to start, they are considered a no-show. In addition to that, if you cancel within two hours of your appointment starting (one hour for 11:00am), it is considered a no-show. Member(s) who do show up past the 20-minute mark cannot go on the water unless they called ahead to inform us.
If an appointment is a no-show, a Universal Access Program instructor will cancel the appointment and subsequently call or email the participant to discuss the matter. The first time a participant has no-showed, they will be given a warning and advised to cancel appointments in advance.
No-showing a second time, an instructor will cancel all future appointments and put the Program Director in contact with the participant. No-showing more than two times will result in the individual or group being removed from the Universal Access Program schedule for two weeks. Subsequent no shows will be dealt with on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Program Director.
No-shows severely impact the Universal Access Program, preventing CBI from fully utilizing its resources. Groups and members who no-show to an appointment should contact CBI as soon as they are able to provide a valid reason for their absence. Our staff will follow-up to confirm future appointments. Members who no-show to a second appointment without providing a valid reason will forfeit their future appointments, and will be required to speak to a Program Director before booking new appointments. In view of CBI’s limited resources, CBI reserves the right to cancel the memberships of individuals or groups who abuse this policy.
Yes, you can book your appointments on back to back days. Each UAP member can book up to 2 appointments per week. It is up to you and your schedule to determine which days work best for you.
Because of high demand for appointments, particularly on the weekend, we ask that your two appointments per week be scheduled on two different days.
The boathouse does not have any onsite parking, but limited parking is available at the LAZ lot next to Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary after 5 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and the Charles/MGH Red Line stop, a five-minute walk from CBI.
