Teaching: A CBI Tradition
Community Boating, Inc. is the oldest and largest community sailing program in the country, but we didn’t get there on our own. CBI has only survived the last 70 years because of the hard work, innovation, and dedication of its own members. CBI embraces the inclusive and collaborative vision of Community by asking members to give back to the organization that taught them to sail, so that public sailing for all remains an institution for the whole of the Greater Boston community.
As a volunteer instructor, you will be contributing directly to that vision, and no matter what stage you’re at in your sailing education, CBI members always have the opportunity to share their skills and develop new ones. Any instructor will tell you that teaching is a sure way to strengthen your sailing skills, and opens up new opportunities on the Charles River. Volunteers can participate in special social events, volunteer night sails, and customized classes in addition to the rewards of teaching new sailors new skills.
If you are interested in teaching any of our classes, from Orientation on up to Jib, it’s easy to get started! There’s no minimum commitment, and signing up is easy. Simply email [email protected] to get started.
